Iran Claims No Involvement in Yemen Conflict; Delays Oman Talks

by Editorial Team

Iran has firmly denied any involvement in the Yemen conflict, asserting that the Houthi forces operate independently without Iranian influence. According to Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Tehran does not meddle in Yemen’s internal affairs and dismisses accusations linking it to recent events concerning Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Baghaei emphasized that the conflict’s roots are deeply embedded within Yemen itself.

Amid these developments, a meeting in Oman planned to include Iran and Gulf countries has been postponed at the request of Saudi Arabia. This gathering was intended to tackle issues of regional security and collaboration. Baghaei noted that, despite the delay, Iran and Oman have reached a mutual understanding regarding maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz, and they will decide on the next steps independently.

Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, stated that the postponement of the regional meeting aimed to bolster consensus. He also reaffirmed Oman’s dedication to maintaining dialogue, regional stability, and fostering long-term cooperation.

The postponed talks were anticipated to provide an avenue for Iran and Oman to present their agreement on navigating the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Although the meeting’s rescheduling might delay discussions on broader regional cooperation, Baghaei assured that the bilateral understanding between Iran and Oman had been finalized, indicating a readiness to move forward regardless of the broader meeting’s timeline.
