Kaylee Hottle, the young actress celebrated for her role as Jia in the films “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” tragically passed away at the age of 18 after a car accident in Maryland. The Texas School for the Deaf confirmed her death, expressing their heartfelt condolences to Hottle’s family, friends, and all who knew her.
The accident occurred early Tuesday morning in Frederick, Maryland, when a 1995 Honda Accord veered off the road and collided with a culvert. Local authorities investigating the incident have indicated that excessive speed was likely a factor in the crash. Hottle was a passenger in the vehicle at the time.
Following the crash, Hottle was rushed to a nearby trauma center but was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival. The 19-year-old driver of the vehicle sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, while another passenger in the car chose not to receive medical treatment.
Hottle’s portrayal of Jia, a deaf orphan who shares a unique bond with Kong, earned her widespread acclaim and was praised for its authentic representation of the deaf community. Her character in the MonsterVerse films resonated with audiences and brought attention to the importance of inclusivity in the film industry.
