President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that six Mexican nationals detained by Israeli forces last week will return to Mexico this week. The group was intercepted while traveling on boats that were part of a flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. Sheinbaum confirmed that Mexico’s ambassador to Israel has been in constant contact with the detainees and that authorization for their repatriation has been secured from the Israeli government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs later confirmed that the ambassador visited the Mexicans at Ktzi’ot Prison, where they were informed about the upcoming repatriation process. Coordination for their return is being carried out between Mexico’s embassies in the region and Israeli authorities.
During the same press briefing, Sheinbaum also addressed recent acts of violence during the annual Oct. 2 march in Mexico City, condemning the provocations and calling for investigations into those responsible. She emphasized that her administration does not support or tolerate violent demonstrations.
The president reaffirmed her government’s commitment to protecting Mexican citizens abroad while maintaining a stance of peace and dialogue at home.
