President Donald Trump has revealed what he believes is the recipe for peace in Ukraine: a potent economic cocktail made of one part a complete NATO ban on Russian oil, and one part a massive NATO-imposed tariff on China. He presented this formula as the “quick” way to end the war.
According to the President’s post on Truth Social, the first ingredient is a total commitment from NATO. He is ready to unleash severe U.S. sanctions on Russia, but only after every single ally has stopped purchasing Russian oil. This, he argues, will cut off the primary source of funding for the Kremlin’s military operations.
The second ingredient is to neutralize Russia’s biggest economic supporter. Trump wants the entire NATO alliance to collectively slap tariffs of 50% to 100% on Chinese goods. This measure is designed to make Beijing’s partnership with Moscow economically painful and would be removed as a peace dividend when the war ends.
Trump is marketing this two-part recipe as a foolproof plan. “If NATO does as I say, the war will end quickly, and all of those lives will be saved!” he wrote. The proposal now challenges world leaders to decide if they are willing to try his aggressive economic prescription to cure the conflict.
